Red Star Tourbillon – A Very Special Premiere
The very first Tourbillon watch by Red Star – developed together with the Red Star team in Hong Kong and Shenzhen especially for Poljot24 customers.
Some watches are simply added to a collection. Others begin with an idea.
This Red Star Tourbillon definitely belongs to the second category. Together with my long-standing friends and partners at Red Star in Hong Kong and Shenzhen, I developed this model especially for my customers.
My idea was to create a classic and elegant mechanical watch centred around one of the most fascinating complications in traditional watchmaking: the Tourbillon.
The result also marks an important premiere: the first Tourbillon watch in the history of Red Star.
And it will remain something truly special: only 30 pieces are available.
The Tourbillon – Mechanical Art in Motion
The Tourbillon is one of the most famous and fascinating constructions in traditional mechanical watchmaking. It was developed around 1800 by Abraham-Louis Breguet and patented in 1801.
The idea behind it was as ingenious as it was technically demanding: instead of mounting the escapement and balance wheel in a fixed position within the movement, these components are placed together inside a rotating cage.
In traditional pocket watches, which often remained in the same vertical position for long periods of time, this continuous rotation was designed to compensate for positional variations caused by gravity and thereby improve timekeeping.
Today, however, the Tourbillon offers another kind of fascination: it makes the heartbeat and mechanics of a watch visible.
On this Red Star, the Tourbillon can be admired through the large opening at 6 o'clock. The balance wheel, escapement and Tourbillon cage are constantly in motion – transforming the measurement of time into a captivating mechanical spectacle on the wrist.
There is no need for a separate central seconds hand: the rotating Tourbillon itself also serves as the indication of the passing seconds.
Classic Elegance for an Extraordinary Mechanism
We deliberately decided against an overly elaborate design. The finely decorated silver-coloured dial provides an elegant background for the distinctive blue numerals and hands.
The characteristic red star at 12 o'clock adds a subtle splash of colour and reflects the unmistakable identity of Red Star.
The highly polished 42 mm case made from 316L stainless steel gives the watch a refined and classic appearance, while the exposed Tourbillon at 6 o'clock immediately draws the eye.
At its heart is a mechanical hand-wound Tourbillon movement with 21 jewels, beating at 21,600 vibrations per hour and offering a power reserve of approximately 40 hours.
This watch certainly features a sapphire crystal and a crystal back.
For me personally, this watch is something very special. I have been working closely with Thomas Leung and his Red Star team for many years, and the idea of creating our first Tourbillon together for my customers grew out of our many meetings and conversations in Hong Kong and Shenzhen.
At just EUR 595, this special Tourbillon Edition remains true to our shared philosophy: offering exceptional mechanical watches at fair and carefully calculated prices.
After all, it is not a high price that makes a watch truly special, but its mechanics, its story and the pleasure it brings to its owner.
30 watches. The first Red Star Tourbillon. Developed together with Red Star in Hong Kong and Shenzhen – especially for Poljot24 customers.
