Strela Star Bronze – Through the Stars in a Bronze Case
With the Strela Star Bronze STAR40CY-BR, Strela presents the third remarkable model of its Bronze Collection. The warm bronze case, brown leather strap and copper-coloured dial create a perfectly harmonious combination, giving this mechanical chronograph an elegant and almost poetic appearance.
The Star series combines the rich heritage of the legendary Strela chronographs with a distinctive contemporary design. The result is a premium mechanical chronograph that beautifully unites traditional watchmaking, Soviet space history and the fascinating character of bronze.
The History of Strela
The famous Strela chronographs are among the best-known and most historically significant wristwatches of the former Soviet Union. Since the late 1950s, they were manufactured at the First Moscow Watch Factory and powered by the legendary Venus 3017 column-wheel chronograph movement.
Strela achieved worldwide recognition through its use in the Soviet space program. On March 18, 1965, Cosmonaut Alexei Leonov wore a Strela during the world's first spacewalk, making it one of the very few wristwatches that genuinely became part of space exploration history.
Today's Strela Star proudly continues this heritage while introducing its own unique personality. The inscription "Через тернии к звёздам" on the dial translates as "Through hardships to the stars" – a traditional phrase that perfectly reflects Strela's enduring connection with exploration, determination and the conquest of space.
Bronze – A Material with Character
The case is crafted from high-quality bronze, an alloy that has been used for centuries in shipbuilding, architecture and precision instruments. Bronze offers a warm, rich colour and naturally develops a unique patina over time.
Every watch ages differently. Depending on how it is worn, contact with the skin and the surrounding environment, the surface gradually changes, creating a unique appearance. Over the years, every Strela Bronze becomes a true one-of-a-kind timepiece, reflecting the personal journey of its owner.
It is no coincidence that bronze has become one of the most desirable case materials in today's premium mechanical watches. Many renowned luxury watch manufacturers deliberately use bronze for selected models because few materials combine elegance, individuality and character so beautifully.
With a diameter of 40 mm, a height of only 14 mm and water resistance of 10 ATM, the Star Bronze offers excellent wearing comfort. The beautifully finished case features brushed sides, polished lugs and a polished bezel, resulting in a timeless and refined appearance.
The Star Dial – Warm, Elegant and Unique
The copper-coloured dial is the defining feature of this exceptional model. Its warm metallic finish perfectly complements the bronze case, creating an elegant and harmonious overall appearance unlike any other Strela chronograph.
The cleanly designed subdials, crisp white scales and applied luminous hour markers ensure excellent readability, while the sunburst finish brings the dial to life by changing its appearance with every movement of the light.
The red central chronograph hand adds a subtle sporting touch while paying tribute to the historic Strela chronographs. Authentic Cyrillic lettering and the clean Star layout complete the watch's distinctive vintage-inspired character.
The Classic ST19 Column-Wheel Movement
Inside beats the proven Seagull ST19, one of the finest mechanical chronograph movements still produced today. It is a direct descendant of the legendary Swiss Venus chronograph movement, whose production equipment was transferred to China during the 1960s.
This hand-wound calibre features a traditional column-wheel mechanism, still regarded as the highest-quality construction for mechanical chronographs. Compared with simpler cam-operated systems, the column wheel provides exceptionally smooth, precise and satisfying operation of the chronograph functions.
The movement features 21 jewels, beats at 21,600 vibrations per hour, offers a power reserve of approximately 45 hours, and is equipped with modern shock protection. It is widely appreciated for its reliability, durability and ease of servicing.
The screw-down crystal case back provides an impressive view of the beautifully engineered column-wheel chronograph movement, making the mechanical heart of the watch a true pleasure to admire.
Two Leather Straps Included
The Strela Star Bronze comes fitted with the original Strela pull-through leather strap. In addition, you will receive a premium RIOS1931 leather strap of your choice, allowing you to personalize the appearance of your watch whenever you wish.
A Chronograph Full of Character
The Strela Star Bronze combines classic chronograph heritage, Soviet space history and one of today's most fascinating case materials to create an exceptional mechanical timepiece. As the bronze case develops its own unique patina over time, every watch becomes truly one of a kind.
For enthusiasts of mechanical chronographs, extraordinary materials and distinctive design, the Strela Star Bronze is a watch of remarkable character—warm, elegant and deeply rooted in history.
