The Heart – Column-Wheel Caliber ST19
The Strela Black Cosmos is powered by the traditional ST19 hand-wound column-wheel chronograph movement, a direct descendant of the legendary Swiss Venus 3017. In the 1960s, the original production machinery and blueprints were sold to Tianjin, where Seagull continues to manufacture this caliber to this day with great precision and craftsmanship.
Technical details:
-
Column-wheel control – the classic and sophisticated chronograph construction
-
Hand-wound, approx. 40-hour power reserve
-
21 jewels, shock protection, 21,600 vibrations/hour
-
Finely finished, reliable and extremely durable
-
Caseback engraving: “3017 → ST19” as a tribute to its historic roots
Among collectors, the ST19 is regarded as one of the most fascinating mechanical chronograph calibers worldwide: technically demanding, historically important, and with a unique feel when operating the chronograph pushers – just like the very first Strela chronographs of the 1950s.
History & Legacy
The first Strela chronographs were produced in the 1950s by Poljot in Moscow. Not only were they technically advanced, but they also accompanied Soviet cosmonauts on their missions. With the Black Cosmos reissue, this exceptional design makes its return – authentic, true to detail, and complete with the signature baguette-shaped chronograph pushers.
The Strela Chronograph Black Cosmos is more than just a timepiece – it is a piece of Russian-Soviet watch history for your wrist: limited, characterful, and full of tradition.
