Red Star 747 Jumbo – Mechanical Aviation Chronograph
A tribute to an icon of aviation.
Few aircrafts have shaped the history of civil aviation quite like the Boeing 747. With its unmistakable silhouette and characteristic upper deck, the “Jumbo Jet” became a symbol of long-distance travel, technological innovation and the fascination of flight for generations.
With the new Red Star 747 Jumbo, Red Star pays tribute to this legendary aircraft with an extraordinary mechanical chronograph. The watch does far more than simply carry the 747 name – numerous details are directly inspired by the technology and visual language of an aircraft cockpit.
For me, this model is particularly special: I am delighted to offer the new Red Star 747 Jumbo exclusively at Poljot24.de.
The Cockpit of a 747 on Your Wrist
One look at the dial immediately brings to mind a flight instrument. At the heart of the design is the artificial horizon, one of the essential instruments in an aircraft cockpit. Its characteristic representation of blue sky and brown earth forms the central design element of the dial.
Scales, markings and colourful details reproduce the technical aesthetics of classic cockpit instrumentation. Even a small Boeing 747 silhouette can be discovered in the centre of the dial.
Above this elaborate dial sits a domed sapphire crystal, adding impressive depth to the watch and further enhancing its distinctive instrument-like appearance.
A particularly attractive detail can be found on the right-hand side of the case: the two chronograph pushers are designed to evoke the turbines of a jet engine.
The brushed stainless steel case measures 42 mm in diameter and, at 16 mm in height and with a lug-to-lug measurement of 52 mm, the watch has a deliberately substantial presence on the wrist.
Completing the technical design a modern grey rubber strap is installed.
Peacock SL4609 – An Unusual Mechanical Heart
At least as fascinating as the design of the watch is the movement inside.
The Red Star 747 Jumbo is powered by the rarely encountered Peacock SL4609, a mechanical chronograph calibre whose construction follows the well-known architecture of the ETA/Valjoux 7750.
For the Red Star 747 Jumbo, however, a particularly interesting version is used: the calibre has been configured as a manual-winding movement. Instead of relying on an automatic rotor, the watch is wound in the traditional way using the crown – a detail that perfectly complements the technical and mechanical character of this model.
The movement features 33 jewels and operates at a high frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz). With second stop if you pull out the crown.
This frequency can also be appreciated when the chronograph is running: the central chronograph seconds hand advances across the dial in rapid, fine steps. For enthusiasts of mechanical watchmaking, this is a particularly fascinating detail.
Direct Contact with Red Star in Hong Kong and Shenzhen
Red Star has been one of our close partners for many years. At the end of October, I will once again personally visit the Red Star team in Hong Kong and Shenzhen. This makes me even more pleased to be able to introduce this extraordinary new model to you exclusively at Poljot24.de.
The personal contact with the manufacturer is an important part of our work. It allows us not only to offer you unusual mechanical watches, but also to know the people, ideas and stories behind the models we sell.
Individually Numbered and Supplied in a Special 747 Watch Box
The screw-down case back is individually numbered, giving each Red Star 747 Jumbo its own number.
The watch is supplied in a special Red Star 747 Jumbo presentation box.
For aviation enthusiasts, pilots, mechanical watch lovers and, of course, everyone with a passion for the legendary Boeing 747.
The Boeing 747 was never simply another passenger aircraft. For generations of travellers and aviation enthusiasts, the Jumbo represents the great era of intercontinental aviation – and an aircraft so distinctive that its silhouette can be recognised from a great distance.
